Low Hydrogen Flake (LH)
MMC’s distinctive dull brown Low Hydrogen flake has been treated in a degassing furnace to contain no more than 8 ppm of hydrogen.
Flake thickness is 1 to 2mm.
Fines and loose nodules are largely absent from the product due to screening prior to packing.

Low Oxygen Flake (LO)
MMC’s grey Low Oxygen flake receives a chemical treatment to passivate the outer surface of the flake, to prevent surface oxidation. The flakes are washed and dried after passivation.
The oxygen content of this product does not exceed 0.1%. The hydrogen content is typically 250 ppm.
LO flake is mostly used in applications where high-value alloys are produced in vacuum induction melting furnaces. For all other flake applications, MMC’s LH flake is the preferred raw material.

Stablised Powder (SP)
SP is the trade name of MMC’s stabilised powder, produced by surface passivation treatments of UP (unstabilised powder).
A chromium-free passivation process is used, which improves HSE compliance for both MMC and the consumers of SP. The main use of SP is in the production of welding consumables.
MMC’s offering of low hydrogen content in a passivated powder makes SP a unique product.

Unstabilised Powder (UP)
UP is the trade name of MMC’s unstabilised powder, produced by milling the low hydrogen flake under controlled conditions.
A wide variety of particle size distributions is offered.
MMC is the world leading producer of dedusted Mn powder for use in the aluminium industry. This grade of powder can be injected directly to molten aluminium at 720-750ºC for rapid dissolution. This eliminates the need to use MnAl powder compacts, resulting in a significant cost saving.

Manganese Aluminium Briquettes (MN/AL)
Mn metal powder and Al metal powder are combined, typically containing 75% to 85% Mn and pressed into small, dense briquettes. These briquettes dissolve easily when added to an aluminium alloying furnace.
